A classic piece from gCaptain explains why drowning so often goes unnoticed—even in crowded places—and the subtle warning signs most people miss. Required reading for anyone heading out on the water. “Drowning Doesn’t Look Like Drowning” gcaptain.com/drowning/

AWS, is collecting my email address for the thousandth time for marketing emails really worth making it hard to find a livestream link for your webinars? Why not just... livestream without obligation?

If a service dog approaches you alone, follow it; its person might need help and the dog is trying to lead you there. I miss old Twitter, but I guess I'll still occasionally tweet these helpful tips to keep my account alive, just in case.

No newspaper article, television documentary, news report or book will ever be able to make the incredible, unbelievable inadequacy of Donald Trump as clear as this short clip does.

If you're worried about a nearby wildfire, realize that the satellites that detect fires might only pass over a given spot every several hours at most. The red dots you see could be showing where the fire was many hours ago, so be sure to also check local official sources.

I guess the new management is threatening to delete people who don't provide content, so here I am, just in case. I'd hate to lose access, since I do periodically check in on a few people who haven't moved.

I feel like I should tweet once in a while because the new management might abruptly delete nontweeters, and I still have faint hope. So here's why you don't throw water on a kitchen oil fire!

One of the things I occasionally get paid to do by companies/execs is to tell them why everything seemed to SUDDENLY go wrong, and subs/readers dropped like a stone. So, with everything going on at Twitter rn, time for a thread about the Trust Thermocline /1

Well, in case Twitter really is on the way out, I've set up at @jt7d@mastodon.social and @jt7d@awscommunity.social (but am not active quite yet). I've really enjoyed Twitter and value all of you and everything I have learned. My thanks to its workers and many contributors!

Don't sleep on CloudFormation Guard v2. I'm just *beginning* to grasp how powerful this thing is, beginning with the fact that it's not just for CloudFormation, it's a *general-purpose* open source policy-as-code DSL tool that can examine any JSON or YML: github.com/aws-cloudformatio…

Facebook scam, I’m selling a desk and they’re pretending to be interested. They’re using my cell number to attempt to sign up for google voice. Remember never share your 2FA codes.

Is there some other format available for AWS's Twitch schedule? I'm a bit of a crank on the topic of card layouts, but this one seems particularly bad.
