I am devastated to hear about the horrific events at the Lapu Lapu festival in Vancouver earlier this evening. I offer my deepest condolences to the loved ones of those killed and injured, to the Filipino Canadian community, and to everyone in Vancouver. We are all mourning with you. We are monitoring the situation closely, and thankful to our first responders for their swift action.

To be clear, of the projects Mr. Poilievre cited yesterday:   - 1 project (LNG Canada 2) is in fact fully approved and awaiting the company’s final investment decision. - 3 projects are being assessed under the Harper/Poilievre Government's flawed CEAA 2012 process – which is why they are taking so long. - 2 projects being assessed under our IAA process are delayed due to extension requests from the companies themselves. - 5 projects began assessment in the last two years and are within the current timeline goals set under the IAA, with 3 of them expecting final decisions in the next 12 months. Canadians should not accept these mistruths and incomplete information as a façade for shirking our Constitutional obligations and ignoring our environment. We deserve better from our public discourse. Canadians know it’s possible to build major projects the right way - why doesn’t Mr. Poilievre?
So, this announcement is interesting since it commits to greenlight (or at least work with proponents and First Nations to approve) ten specific projects. I thought it was worth taking a look at a few of them (they are shown below): 1/

This isn't weeks or months ago - BC Conservative candidates have found the time to actively push misinformation on the campaign trail.
They can't even keep their crazy conspiracy theories to themselves the day before the election #bcpoli

I see @HarmanBhanguBC took an interest in the Point Grey debate! Too bad he couldn’t make the drive from his home in Delta to Langley for any of our local debates. I was hoping to hear what he’s done for Langley—if anything—and how his record stacks up against mine.

John Rustad wants American-style healthcare in BC. This means less doctors and nurses in the public system, and longer waits for you. #bcpoli
16 Oct 2024
AUDIO: Behind closed doors, John Rustad said he supports "user pay" two-tier healthcare just like in the US. This would pull staff out of the public system and make everyone else wait longer. John Rustad is a risk we can't afford.

6 worshipers gunned down in a Quebec City Mosque. 20 kids and 6 teachers slaughtered at Sandy Hook. 49 people slain at a gay nightclub in Orlando. Families devastated. John Rustad’s candidate says it’s fake. Tell us again John, where your line in the sand is.

Behind closed doors, Rustad admits he doesn’t plan to deliver on healthcare and transit promises. The pattern continues: saying one thing and doing another. #bcpoli
John Rustad would cancel the Langley SkyTrain extension and hospital projects. He says "we don't have the capacity to build them all." Not only are his new infrastructure promises fairy dust but he would delay or cancel projects underway. We can't afford that risk.

Rustad doesn’t want you to know it, but his tax “breaks” would directly benefit the top 2%. Everyone else pays less under the BC NDP. #bcpoli
An important watch: Rustad's star candidate Yuri Fulmer is openly pushing tax breaks for the top 2%. The tax rate he's talking about here is the top bracket - everyone else in BC pays the lowest income taxes in Canada. This is important for unpacking Rustad's agenda. 🧵
