After nearly a century of absence from California, gray wolves have made their return. The California Wolf Project, a partnership between Rausser College and @CaliforniaDFW, will advance the science and management of gray wolves in the state. ow.ly/IQ4M50TVGav
βΌοΈNew paper alert!
@KristyFerraro, @NathalieSommer and I wrote a perspective in Biological Conservation entitled βIndividuals in focus: Individuals as the ecological and ethical center of human-wildlife conflictβ

We believe studying and valuing individuals can provide conservationists with better clarity about why HWC occurs and how to improve management and policy strategies
I'm honored to have received the @YaleEnvironment
Bormann Prize which honors the doctoral student whose work exemplifies the legacy of Herb Bormann. Check out my interview about the work here! environment.yale.edu/news/ar⦠w/ Les Welker, @elibward, @SchmitzLab, and Mark Bradford
Very excited to announce the Early View of our paper, "Predatorβprey interactions across hunting mode, spatial domain size, and habitat complexities" in @ESAEcology with @KristyFerraro, @NathalieRSommer and @freshwaterfreya :
shorturl.at/anKT2
Specifically, (1) how hunting mode and spatial domain size interact to influence the emergence of CE or NCEs and (2) how, when NCEs do dominate, hunting mode and spatial domain separately or additively determine prey shifts in time, space, and habitat use.
Our results indicate CE only dominates for specific combinations of hunting mode and spatial domain sizes. Also, prey are most likely to survive when they shift their time but most frequently shift their habitat.
How can conservationists rewild the carbon cycle?

This paper provides considerations to design and monitor such programs, and to weigh social-ecological trade-offs.

πΏπΎ New research shows that bringing animals into ecosystems saves species and fights climate change by capturing and storing carbon. But, as we offer in our newest paper with @PaN_BES, it's not a one-size-fits-all solution. #rewilding#climatechangedoi.org/10.1002/pan3.10609
We need to consider the context and impacts on both nature and people through an ecological, social, and ethical lens. π€π We suggest to tread carefully and carefully consider local and regional nuances! π±π #Conservation#ClimateAction#contextmatters
