Harsh Dubey's ODI debut was significant beyond the three wickets he picked up against Afghanistan.
Before Saturday, Vidarbha's men's international representatives were Prashant Vaidya (who debuted for India while representing Bengal), Umesh Yadav, Faiz Fazal and Jitesh Sharma. Harsh now joins that list.
For a region that has increasingly felt over the last decade that its sustained excellence in domestic cricket, across senior and age-group levels, hasn't always translated into national recognition, Harsh's rise - along with Jitesh's - offers something invaluable: hope.
A reminder that performances can still be rewarded. And a belief that he won't be the last.
Having followed Jitesh into India's colours, Harsh Dubey may well be the trailblazer for the next wave of Vidarbha cricketers waiting on the horizon.
