Hey Gàidhlig Twitter, would anyone be willing to confirm that the correct translation for "beekeeper's house" would be "taigh-beachlannair"? Asking for a friend >.> #Gàidhlig #Gaelic

This will likely be my last set of tweets. I'm sure I don't need to explain why. I am over on Mastodon if you're interested @kashcah@mastodon.scot I'll be sharing needle felting, croft updates (yes, we finally have some news, just a wee bit) and probably plenty of pics there.

Then a 100 mile drive from the west coast to the east, travelling through a small corner of Assynt on the way. Assynt is epic. The views of Stac Pollaidh and Sgùrr an Fhìdhleir were stunning. I definitely want to spend time exploring there in the future.

It was a perfect holiday for which I am still very grateful and I recognise the privledges, which we benefit from, that allowed us to go.

Some of the ferries running routes around the Hebrides are no longer reliable and the ferry we were supposed to take from South Uist to the mainland is one of them. We were supposed to sail on Wednesday but after a few days of cancellations we decided to take a different route.

Highly recommend stopping at the Cake Shed that's on the way to Luskentyre beach if you're ever out there. Coz CAAKKKEEE! (It really was delicious...😋)

The mountains of westhern Harris are stunning. We stopped for a quick lunch in Tarbet and arrived in Stornway for the early afternoon sailing to Ullapool. I'll do one more post after this of the last leg of journey home.

I haven't left Twitter yet (although I am testing the waters of Mastodon). MOAR pics from Uist! The beautiful beaches on the east coast of the island.

Gentle twilight in evening hours we spent wandering in hopefully search of otter sightings (who were ultimately too elusive and were heard but never seen...bastards).

And of course there was CAKE! From the completely delightful Uist Scandi Bakery, who we were very happy to discover were along our unexpected route home. More about that in my next post...how about that for a cliffhanger 😂🤣

More holiday pics (I did warn you... 😂) We stayed in a lovely, little self catering hut which was just a few steps from the loch we swam in. There were some rather nosey neighbours. There were also windy beach walks and stunning sunrises.

Christmas puds ✅ This might be the first time I've made Christmas pudding far enough in advance for it to mature a bit before we Cookie Monster it 😂 Does anyone "feed" theirs? I've never done that before (see previous comment 😉) and am now contemplating if I want to.

It absolutely chucked it down the first morning but it was so lovely to be away we didn't care. We spent the time luxuriating in book reading, pug snuggling and second breakfasts.

Then the weather cleared and there was enough sunshine for a quick walk and a quick swim. Even in thermal wetsuits the loch felt damn cold 🥶 Regardless of the temperature, it was very much a priviledge to swim in such beautiful surroundings!
