The worst part of being a writer/freelancer/me is how everything feels terrible and you're obv a failure – and then you get a good email and suddenly you're brilliant, never doubted it, and you're obv winning an Oscar/Emmy/Booker tomorrow. And then you do it all again next week.

Literally back on here bc I caught up on @thewatchpod and need to tell @ChrisRyan77 that I’m the only other person who watched The Defeated and it’s, you know, fine but, with that premise, I’m still mad it wasn’t better

Just did my UK taxes and it does make me want to cry every time, but at least my accountants are lovely and don’t shame me for being a confused hot mess. Highly recommend Bambridge Accountants if you’re also a UK film/TV person.

Never missed Old Twitter more than this evening, when people started making jokes about David Cameron and I couldn’t just come here to find out what’s going on and have a subject specialist lay out how it’s even possible

Hi. I’m the new senior features editor at @Cosmopolitan. I put out a call for pitches last week and got an incredible response. Thank you so much! Now, I want to drill down a bit and give some more context on what we’re looking for. 1) STORY!...

I was on that bridge today, and while I can only speak for my own experience, I saw: 1) Many Jews proudly marching, and centering their religion 2) The crowd of Muslims and Christians around them responding with love and appreciation every time they did so
London. Now. This is horrifying. How are Jews meant to stay in the U.K.?

Here's a thread outlining the geopolitical situation around the Israel-Gaza war its possibilities, impossibilities, and possible outcomes. Heads up, it's my longest thread yet. It's also raw, unedited, and unevenly paced. Sorry, none of us are well but at least we're trying

We did it. We have a tentative deal. Over the coming days, we'll discuss and vote on it, together, as a democratic union. But today, I want to thank every single WGA member, and every fellow worker who stood with us in solidarity. You made this possible. Thank you. #WGAStrong

Reinventing cable. Just like Uber reinvented taxis. All these “disruptors” or “innovators” do is undercut an existing industry until they force it into a chokehold. Then they rebuild the preexisting business model sans worker protections like residuals and employment contracts.
Amazon plans to start rolling out ads on Prime Video movies and TV shows in early 2024. Consumers who want the ad-free tier will have to pay an additional $2.99/month fee, taking the subscription up to $17.99.

This bears repeating over and over and over. I’ve heard from 3 executive friends that the WGA had never countered to the AMPTPs offer. That the WGA negotiating committee is in over their heads. So you have to repeat this timeline as often as necessary so it eventually sinks in.
Replying to @WGAWest
To clarify: August 11: Initial counter offer from AMPTP August 15: WGA offers counterproposal August 22: AMPTP publicly releases unchanged offer from August 11, ignoring WGA's August 15 counterproposal entirely 3/3 #WGAstrike #WGAstrong #1u

Recently it’s felt like a challenging time in TV & a quiet summer in terms of opportunities. 🍁🍂But with autumn round the corner a few new roles and initiatives (hate the word ‘scheme’) are starting to pop up. Here’s a couple… 🧵 #tvdevelopment #tvdrama #scriptjobs #writers

🛑I wrote about what “fatigue” really means for people with long COVID and ME/CFS, and why this profoundly debilitating symptom is so often misunderstood and trivialized. (This piece also covers PEM.) 1/ theatlantic.com/health/archi…
