How does a lot draw determine ballot order of candidates?
In the race with the most candidates, each is given a number based on the order in which they filed.
These numbers are randomly selected to determine candidate order on the ballot and applied to other races we manage.

After emergency responders cleared Elections Headquarters yesterday, our team got back to work. We expect our results update this afternoon to include around 100,000 ballots.
And we’ll be back at work tomorrow to continue processing.
King County Elections expects to add approximately 20,000 ballots in today’s 4 p.m. results update. That 20,000 number is lower than usual because our building was evacuated this morning after we received a letter containing white powder.
This situation kept Elections staff out of the building and away from processing ballots for approximately three hours. After the mailroom was cleared and cleaned by HAZMAT, ballot processing staff returned to work.
Good morning King County! We estimate around 150,000 ballots were returned to drop boxes last night! First step in processing is getting those ballots “trayed” which means aligning them so they can go through the sort machine. The goal is to get ~50,000 more ballots opened today.
