It’s official! I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that my next book will be published by @eerdmansbooks. It’s tentatively titled: “Conversation Seeking Communion: The Art of Christian Disagreement.” It hasn’t been written yet, but you should definitely order a copy today.

We want answers. Well, actually, Hitchcock does.
You can make hats and tweed jackets and Thanksgiving dinner all you want. But you're still going to wrestle with original sin, ad hoc ethics and eschatological implications. How's that going for ya? @kdavidbennett & @ccimorelli1 ask. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

This is called “refilling my brain” time.

Wrote roughly five thousand words today. Mostly contributions to the Preface and Introduction. I know, I know, I should have written those last. But I’ve been ruminating on them for a while and they’ve been stalking my fingertips. Nice day of scribing, though. #kdbcsc

Time to get those heads, hearts, hands, and heels ready for worship tomorrow. What you think. What you want. What you do. Where you’re going. Deliberations, dreams, deeds, and duties—time to take them all captive. They all belong to Jesus, and it’s time to give them back.

Absolutely diggin this taxonomy of church unity from Turretin. Quite insightful and thought-provoking. Albeit, I would have begun with head, not body, and concluded with love, not hope.

This evening I had to remind my kids that Jesus was so human he had to urinate & defecate. And if they cringe at the thought of that it’s because they have heresy hiding in their hearts (vide Valentinianism). Then I told them to wash their hands and get ready for dinner.

Dear Jesus— Please make me an Augustinian this summer, not a Pelagian. Thank you. Amen.

Kuyper always got me thinking. On Genesis 11:9.

Very productive writing day. Not sure how many words were written, but the Word was working. I collated and organized all my notes and previous writings on disagreement, which was no small feat. Now all that’s left is to write each chapter. Deadline of August 31st be gently breathing down my neck. #kdbcsc

Using this for every book proposal I submit from here on out: "We believe this book should be published because it is what the Church needs right now in an age of rampant despair, unbridled consumerism, technological devastation, and anthropocentric rapacity."

Spent the first half of the afternoon falling down a rabbit hole of learning about Thomas Edwards’ and Samuel Rutherford’s respective works in heresiography. I think I missed my calling in life.

A field guide to the art of disagreement would come in real handy right about now.
Backed by a $1.43 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Hope College is launching the GRACE (Growing through Respectful and Civil Exchange) initiative to cultivate the art of civil discourse. The four-year grant will fund student leadership cohorts, faculty curriculum support, and public scholarship led by Provost Dr. Gerald Griffin and Professor Dr. Sarah Kornfield. Dads—stop being too tired to teach your kids Greek. And Latin. Also English.
