Meta Quests new wrist based app and system menu buttons are a definite improvement on air tapping. I think they could have gone a little further using something like Cathy Fangs self haptic work at the Future Interfaces group at MIT Media Lab …

Anyone building in AR/VR and who thinks @speedrun may be good for them (it almost certainly will be), ping me & I can provide a referral. Just don’t build anything generic, push the limits on deep-tech or use-cases!
dear followers,
who do I need to meet who's just starting out / working on something cool in:
- AI/agents
- gamified consumer apps
- 3D tools
- B2B/infra
- AR/VR/spatial
- avatars
- game studios
Please @ mention them in the replies!
a16z is investing in dozens of startups in the next 45 days -- $30M with $750k checks -- via our SPEEDRUN program
I think of the list above as sitting in the intersection of TECH x GAMING which is where we focus
Here's a thread with more about the program we're running later this year:

Does anyone know what headsets the new rejuvenated @SteamVR for Mac supports? Presumably the Reality Pro, but presumably other headsets to help with dev too.
I’ve started and dismissed Apple Freeform as an underpowered drawing app. But I gave it another go today, I need to spec up some VR UX work. I’m now a convert, 3 things did it for me:
1 - infinite canvas that just works. No page size, just get in there and start diagramming.
Initiating my iPhone camera from the Freeform Mac app with “take photo”. Taking a photo of my hand with a VR controller. Then in Freeform doing an instant alpha/remove background and leaving just my hand and controller…exactly what I wanted.
That was 5 mins work done in 30 seconds, with complete harmony between iPhone, iPad and macOS. Not sure if the #visionpro demo ensured all this stuff was up to scratch. Either way, I’m all in on Freeform now.
My Apple AR headset prediction is that in remote calls you (the headset wearer) is presented as not wearing the headset ie AI and image processing removes the headset digitally. Remember the ability to use your iPhone as your Mac FaceTime camera? That may be part of it. 1/n
This means you can participate in remote meetings without being a glasshole, people may not even know. If it does need a Mac in front of you then it implies that Mac screen app sharing, as well as iPad app sharing is likely. 3/n
Finally, I think the success of this device comes down to one thing. “Can I work better with this headset?”
If the answer is yes, it’s the new command line -> GUI moment.
