💯 accurate! #lalege
I am begging journalists to look more closely into what Louisiana actually did to achieve this status. Also, “they just followed Mississippi” is not an accurate statement.

Students who took notes by hand scored ~28% higher on conceptual questions than laptop note-takers. Writing forces your brain to process and compress ideas instead of copying them.

A NYT piece is praising these three red southern states for turning their educational systems in a dramatic way, calling them the ‘best hope in schooling,’ after each rose through the ranks in math and reading metrics.

The rest of the country is beginning to realize what we have been saying here in Louisiana: our education system is drastically improving. The @nytimes just released an article saying Louisiana is one of the states with the most hope when it comes to schooling. When we empower parents and let teachers teach, our children succeed!

It's astonishing to witness the improvement in public education--reading, math, attendance, grad rates--in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi. But we're busy fighting culture wars rather than scaling up what these three states have done. Please do read: nytimes.com/2026/02/09/opini…

40,000 families applied for Louisiana's new school choice program. But Senate President Cameron Henry wants to GUT FUNDING so that less than 6,000 kids get scholarships. Over 30,000 kids will be denied. He went to a private school.

Promises made to our families should be kept! Almost 40k families asking for school choice in year 1. LA shouldn’t ignore those families. #lalege

Louisiana passed legislation to create a strong ESA program, giving families a lifeline for their kid’s education. That commitment means nothing without the funding to make this opportunity a reality. I urge lawmakers to fulfill their promise and fully fund the GATOR scholarship!
