Stories of redemption, forgiveness, and restoration like this one are truly inspiring. Sadly, our system is designed more toward preventing these outcomes than to promote them.

Thank you @SenSusanRubio for exercising a fair & balanced approach to SB 672. This bill provides an opportunity for emerging adults who have served 25 yrs, to go before the Board of Parole Hearings & take responsibility for the harm caused. #BeyondLWOP x.com/SenSusanRubio/

I would also say they are denied dignity. Denied human compassion.
True or false? Answer in thread ⬇️ Day 13: Incarcerated youth are denied essential tools for learning and growth when placed in solitary confinement, making it harder for them to re-enter society. How can we expect our future generation to succeed when they are denied their basic needs? This is torture to the body, mind and soul. We must advocate for alternatives that focus on their development and well-being, as confinement devastates mental health. Are you ready to help us end this practice? Visit our website now to learn more about what you can do in your community to help us end this disgusting practice: unlocktheboxcampaign.org#30DaysofEducation #Youth #SolitaryConfinement #Confinement #HumanRights @hrw @stopsolitary

Serving Life Without Parole can be a soul crushing daily event. I'm intimately familiar with this. Women & Men in our country who endure this sense of hopelessness while striving to be their best selves. davisvanguard.org/2024/09/va… (davisvanguard.org/2024/09/va…) #BeyondLWOP and back

A chance to show a person growth and change is just the first step to seeing people in prison as human.
Nevada, it’s time to join the states that believe in redemption. ‘Second look’ laws can help reduce our prison population and give hope to those who have changed. #BeyondLWOP nevadacurrent.com/2024/09/05…

We honor the memory of John Czere, one of our beloved members of the Incarcerated Children’s Advocacy Network (ICAN) who suddenly passed away last week. Fondly referred to as ‘Papa Bear’ by some in our community, John was sentenced to life without parole as a child in Louisiana.

We are sad to hear the passing of one of our Speaker's Bureau members, John Czere, who passed away last week. John was an amazing man who loved to talk and share his stories. He was a juvenile LWOP from Louisiana but relocated to Florida. He will truly be missed by his community.

A new case in Wyoming argues that sentencing a 19-year-old to life without parole is unconstitutional. Science shows that the brain keeps developing into the mid-20s. Time for the law to catch up. @BeyondLWOP #EndLWOP kiowacountypress.net/content…
