Using AI to do a thing is fun, but how often is it just a different way, not a better way?

New open roles on my team! Check them out below. We need to unlock innovation in healthcare. To do that, we have to scale by orders of magnitude over the next few years. We need mission driven go-getters to drive our architecture to 100x and beyond. linkedin.com/posts/rahmimara…

The way Salt handled their repo change is hot garbage. This is no way to run a project. Just one more example of a conflict of interest between corporate and community.

This. So many of us got involved in open source because we wanted to be part of something bigger than ourselves, a community changing the world together. To experience the wonder of trying an idea out without having to ask permission from anybody and discovering where it leads.
Replying to @dhh
I always thought that a desire to create more value than you capture was at the very heart of open source. Even in our non open source company we always say our goal is to generate at least 10x more value than we capture.

I'm thrilled that Shopify came to be worth damn near $100 billion using Rails. I wouldn't want to trade Basecamp for Atlassian (or any other company!). And to me it's beautiful to inspire others without needing them to pay you a cut! Different strokes, I guess!

Interesting: DietPi running on an old Rpi 1 that I found at the back of a closet is giving me ~50ms DNS resolution times in AdGuard Home. That's impressive for such an under-powered SBC. Also realizing when I bought that rpi and now I feel old. 😓

Pretty sure I'm not the first to wish that all spell-checkers came with a built-in "engineer mode" toggle.
