Hot Take: Over 5M World Cup tickets have been sold. These were likely bought by scalpers, brokers, and ticket agencies to resell for a profit.
The World Cup will be a financial disaster for many US host cities. The secondary ticket market is going to get absolutely crushed, and it couldn't happen to a nicer group of people.
Nearly 80% of U.S. hoteliers in 11 World Cup host cities say bookings are tracking below original forecasts, with some describing the tournament as a “non-event,” according to an American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) survey of members released Monday.
