It was such an honor/privilege to host Salsa and Storytelling at The O'Donohue Farm, the first of what I hope will be a series dedicated to unearthing the drama, history, musicality, and context behind popular salsa songs!
ALT several people dancing in a modern farm. it is a beautiful sunset. some folks are masked. the singer is wearing sunflower-type garland in her hair.
ALT a beautiful, chromatic image showing several people in an audience paying attention to a woman with a giant smile on her face - her hair is straight and she is wearing a dress with exposed shoulders.

Dear Twitter hivemind, I want some help on how to describe the pigmentation differences between these two so I can understand what sort of precedence there is in the literature.
Looking for some key words but nothing has hit yet. Abdominal patterning? Spotting? Ayuda porfa!
Wonder if someone can lead me to a proper direction or brainstorm with me.
A CA population of this fly seems to have prominent spots on their abdomens that I don't see in a) older specimens from museums (could be from fading?) or b) another current population in Utah.
Is there any point to investigating this, at all?
The CA environment is far less "stressful" than the UT environment, for what it's worth.
What keywords should I follow to see if this is worth investigating?
