Men will tax the shit out of the entire economy before they go to LVT
Imagine if our tax system didn't take from work, but rewarded it. We could do that by eliminating income, property, and transfer taxes with land value tax, while improving the housing market. BC's land assessment was designed to do just this. Here's how it could work. 1/🧡

Our latest BC modelling found that an LVT capturing 1.8% of present land value can replace all provincial personal/corporate income, property/transfer taxes, and SVT. A more moderate LVT could give every household a $6,500/yr rebate, leaving nearly all households better off.

Now do energy, raw building materials, baby car seats and literally everything else that's stopping $1-2B from recirculating through the Canadian economy
πŸ”” Big news for Canadian consumers. A pan-Canadian alcohol market is on the way, making it easier to buy out-of-province products at home. Cheers to this! πŸ₯‚

It's called Economics 101. A small economy imposing tariffs only screws itself. So retaliation will doubly harm us. But no politician in Canada has the guts or perhaps even the knowledge of economics to say this to Canadians. The best response is not to respond. Whatever economic harm the US experiences could lead to the tariffs being cancelled or even reduced. Firing off our own tariffs is shooting ourselves in the foot. That's pretty dumb.
Bending over and taking it is such an obviously half-witted strategy and yet here we have advocates for it unironically. You think Trump just stops here? Naive. Canada should stand up for itself, even if it means more short term pain.

lol and she's still not gonna remove any of the regulations that make it impossible to open a business or build new homes in Toronto.
As the US imposes tariffs, hardworking Torontonians are worried. People are concerned about their jobs and cost of food. Toronto stands united in a Team Canada approach to respond to this senseless trade action. We will get through this together.

β€œThere is no such thing as car dependency.”
There is no such thing as car dependency. Geography is a natural barrier to mobility that cars enable people to overcome better than any other means of transportation. Cars enable people to conquer geography. People without cars are transit dependent and very defensive about it.

Never once in the history of homebuilding did an academic in social work build a single unit of housing
This is a real Hamilton headline. The people, lives, in need of housing entirely removed from the discourse. Now it is about tents & cops at any cost. An open death/eradication project. The years of work for "human rights-based" & "housing first" approaches openly disposed of.

Does the @cityofhamilton offer downtown property owners any tax abatements/subsidies/grants/support/streamlined permit processes/etc for any type of vertical expansion on existing buildings? @CameronKroetsch
