We have asked @MarvinJRees to correct the Local Plan Policies Map so that those other SNCIs threatened with development are given full planning protection: bristoltreeforum.files.wordp… Hopefully a motion to do this will be brought forward to Full Council Meeting on 9 May.

Replying to @BristolTreeFora
We must fight to try to save the SNCIs that are still threatened with development. The council has the power to reverse this both by passing a resolution now to correct the SNCI maps on the LP Policies Map and, with the LP review, by removing them altogether as Site Allocations.

Have loved Christopher Alexander and co's A Pattern Language for more than 20 years. Finally have a chance to apply it in my own life in helping design a small hamlet in rural France. Love to hear of anyone else's experience in practical applications.

pleased with this solution to showing bi-variate data on a map: regions (LSOAs) are coloured according to the tree canopy with an inner circle coloured according to the level of social deprivation

Finally, we have had formal confirmation that the whole site, including its species rich hedgerows, is within the Yew Tree Farm SNCI!
Some developers tried to cut down an ancient hedgerow, in breeding season, with outdated permission that failed to mention a hedgerow, in an area that recently became an SNCI. We just sent them packing. Brilliant job @BristolTreeFora @DanicaPriest @Cathrinmachin and everyone.

Urgent!!!! Contractors have shown up to rip up hedgerows at Yew Tree Farm!! They don’t have planning permission but claim they can rip out ancient hedgerows because there’s no TPO. We need everyone to help stop this ASAP! Please spread this message. @Catherinewith11 needs you.

Soon, most developments will be obliged to achieve at least 10% biodiversity net gain. This article explains how this can be used to protect and benefit our precious urban trees by making sure that it is properly applied. bristoltreeforum.org/2023/04…

bristol247.com/news-and-feat… It was @BristolTreeFora that applied for the trees on the site to be protected by a TPO. If @BristolZooGdns 'worked with the Council' to secure this TPO, it was because they had no choice. Here is our June 2021 request: bristoltreeforum.files.wordp…

The @The_RHS revealed in Greening Grey Britain that 2005 to 2015, an extra 3 million front gardens were paved over. This has huge implications for overheating, flooding, and biodiversity loss. For everyone. Homeowners should be mandated to retain 50% 'natural' garden space.

Over the last two years, I’ve been researching, and writing up, accounts of great trees in Britain and Ireland. I’m very relieved to say that I’ve finally completed this task, and the manuscript is now with the publishers. Find out more πŸŒ³πŸ‘‡πŸŒ² thestreettree.com/2023/03/18…
