7/ This is what @kmac & I called the "hyperagency of consumers" thats outpacing policy or public investment & forcing govts and investors to respond. In UK heat pump orders doubled in a single month; EV and solar orders are rising worldwide. In Europe... phenomenalworld.org/analysis…

Also read @Equatormag equator.org/ great @thenation interview with its editors "Are Magazines Failing to Cover the New World Order?" ht @daniel_dsj2110 @GavJacobson thenation.com/article/cultur…
The cover story in this month's @TheAtlantic is an 11,000 word feature on which restaurant has the best free bread. The cover story in this month's @curaffairs is a deeply-reported look at the impacts of the Cuba fuel blockade on the population. Read a serious magazine.

On UAE shock exit from OPEC, its the economics stupid. They just want to pump more barrels than OPEC quota allowed. Now pursuing their national interest because they fundamentally believe its about gaining market share in last decades of oil on earth x.com/bencahillenergy/status…

Conclusion of a paper I wrote in 2021 on the UAE's changing oil strategy (link in comments). They've mulled this over for more than five years. Putting the current geopolitical issues to the side, they've been investing heavily for a decade to increase production capacity, and the UAE reference production volume in OPEC is more a reflection of the past than the future. #OPEC #OOTT

1 in 4 Pakistani households own a solar panel. But the poorest quintile has the highest ownership (31%) vs the richest (23.7%). Not what you'd expect from an expensive technology.

What is happening in California & Australia is a preview. Solar Battery boom makes Gas economics worse. Petrostates and buyers should think twice about locking in new gas investments and infrastructure. All that is liquid can melt into air. x.com/alexbhturnbull/status/…

Mark Blyth gave a lecture at LSE just after we interviewed him at our new Polycrisis podcast. His talk on the future of global politics, decarbonization and the future of the dollar is simply the best I've seen. Have a listen: youtube.com/watch?v=09AY6X2X…

Is Electric World Order gonna go Petrodollars to Electroyuan??? Countries that make electricity for free don't need to import so much oil or LNG -- and don't need to earn dollars either "And suddenly, your whole fiscal situation changes." @MkBlyth on Episode 2 with @kmac & I:
