@AFEXProject paper led by my PhD student, Hellen Fernanda Viana Cunha & 30 mostly Brazil-based co-authors, is now in the current issue of Nature! With 5 other forest science papers! nature.com/articles/s41586-0…
In Nature now--with 5 other forest science research articles! We show forest productivity increases with experimental P addition (but not N/cations/intrxns) in an Amazonian forest. Strong responses in leaf & root production, but absent for wood production nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

Great to see our lab work stimulating debate. Plant-fungal exchange processes are complex, elegant, & still mysterious. We should be open to using all types of tools & frameworks to understand them nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/…

The international mycorrhiza society provides four prestigious awards to students, early career, mid career and eminent mycorrhizal researchers. Deadline for applications or nominations is on the 30th of June (this weekend...). Apply yourself (for the student and early career award) or nominate respected colleagues or supervisors. For some awards we have very few candidates, so a good chance! Awards will be announced and given at ICOM12 in Manchester. Please send your application or nomination to Marcel van der Heijden by Email. Further information at: mycorrhizas.org/icom/icom-12… (scroll down) @ICOM_12; @mycorrhiza_ims; @karst_justine; @cesarmarin203;

I had so much fun writing this News & Views on @raphmanu & colleagues excellent study on #nutrientaddition #tropicalforest #leaftraits #phosphorus #potassium ➡️ nature.com/articles/s41561-0…

#HydrationMultiplier Just like humans drink electrolytes on hot, dry days during exercise, plants use #phosphorus & #potassium to extend their activities during dry seasons. Read the full article nature.com/articles/s41561-0… Congrats @raphmanu & colleagues

#openaccess sounds like a great model, but it’s only half the battle. We need a system that supports the researchers who lack the institutional funding to publish (on top of the other systemic biases they face), not another roadblock to hurdle.

A unique (and highly recommended) post-doc opportunity in Panamá with STRI for someone working in restoration ecology or applied ecology, that features an intriguing balance between research and outreach with indigenous communities. Please share widely! @stri_panama

Awards, papers, and h-indexes might seem appealing, but in the end, what you'll remember are the people that celebrated with you when you were up and lifted you up when you were down. Cherish them.
