As a note, my scheduled content has been moved to other platforms. I will still post a bit here, but if you want my scheduled stuff, you’ll need to go elsewhere. I’m generally known by variations of katethealmostgreat in other places.
“Not proactively LGBT hostile” is about the best you can hope for from a Pope so if you have to dig back to 2012 to find an “alternative lifestyles” quote from Leo XIV that honestly beats the curve.
As a reminder:
- the papacy has generally been behind the average Catholic’s real opinions
- someone who is able to climb to be a cardinal is not going to be “woke” by normal people standards. “Woke” by Catholic priest standards, sure. But by average the American? No
I’m not saying we shouldn’t want more from the pope. But for a man in his 60s, who has been a priest and a cardinal? Sure. If you’re expecting the pope to go “actually throw out everything we’ve done and said in the last 100 years if not longer” you will be disappointed.
