It took 96 years, but Saskatoon's Ethel Catherwood has company. Camryn Rogers becomes the second Canadian woman to win an Olympic gold medal in athletics. Rogers won the hammer throw today after Catherwood won high jump gold in 1928 in Amsterdam.

I’ve always wondered what happened to Ethel Catherwood’s 1928 Olympic gold medal. So have others. (And she renounced the whole Olympic experience). Well, I’ve learned it’s in a B.C. safe-deposit box, but there’s a big issue with it, so here’s the story.

As I once suggested to @CarAdrianH, those who subscribe to conspiracies about the “legacy” media should spend a month working in a real newsroom to disabuse themselves of their theories about how news get made. The Star Phoenix would have been a good placement for them.
