Tbh, I'm so tired of reading announcements like this. I just want build something again.
Something that is built to last.🙏
Today we are sad to announce that Uncharted and Fishing Frenzy will shutdown and cease operations.
Despite our best efforts, we were ultimately unable to prove our thesis on crypto gaming and could not find product-market-business fit. We spent a lot of time in the past year testing multiple directions and audiences, but the results did not give us enough conviction in a viable path forward.
We are deeply thankful for the community and investors who gave us their time and trust, and we are sorry we could not deliver.
Here is what’s happening next:
- Servers will shutdown on June 25th 2am UTC
- USDC packages are no longer available in the game
- FISH token is now spend-only and untradable
- Karma scores are now open sourced for use by other teams and partners: github.com/unchartedgg/karma…
- All USDC from the FISH/USDC LP pool will be redistributed to the community and stakers, based off Karma score (snapshot taken as of 15 Jun)
- All USDC spend since Chapter 3 launch (May 14th) will be refunded (excludes diving)
- All Proof of Distribution rewards will be distributed by Sky Mavis directly to the community, proportional to Karma scores

The team including @phucthai95 and @diwick are working on some new washtrading detection mechanisms for: pod.roninchain.com/leaderboa…
Some additional points:
- we're adding an FAQ to the dashboard later today
- wash-trading and attempting to find design flaws in the system to gain rewards is a futile pursuit. If your only business model is to try and farm POD rewards, you're going to waste a lot of time with this game of cat and mouse
- user reputation (honor) will act as another layer of data for the system to tap into, now that POD is deployed this is next for the team

People played games for fun, relaxation, to take a break from the day-to-day grind. Even just for a while.
@AxieInfinity changed that for millions of people around the world.
Turns out, you could have fun and you could also get rewarded for your time.
When I discovered Axie, that very concept was the most INSANE thing I've ever came across to. And it was genius.
Play well, earn tokens, make money, own your stuff and sell them if/when you want.
Axie helped birth an entire industry.
An industry that right now, isn't in a position of strength.
And yet, there are still genuinely great games out there that are building, trying, working to perfect the model.
It's what makes me excited every single day.
Just the idea that this could be figured out.
That in my own little way, I can help contribute to solving the puzzle.
I've always been a gamer, and I know I'll continue playing games with my future grand kids.
In a few months, years, decades from now; my hope is that gaming does indeed evolve into what I (and we, if you're reading this), believe it can be.
There's so much awesome things to look forward to in the short term. Many of the games still doing well are building on Ronin Network. There are also a few contenders out there still working hard and shipping.
The future of crypto gaming sometimes looks dark and hopeless, but if you know where to look, there's still a healthy supply of hope and light.
