Many autistic people put subtitles on for every show they watch, even if they have a strong sense of hearing. This may be because the auditory processing differences and delays that many of us have mean we wouldn’t be able to follow what’s happening on our screens without them.

Oh my. I remember Bobby as a tireless champion in the post-CVAA days. He will be missed.

I've seen a lot of people asking "why does everyone think Twitter is doomed?" As an SRE and sysadmin with 10 years of industry experience, I wanted to write up a few scenarios that are real threats to the integrity of the bird site over the coming weeks.

My twitter feed is pretty hosed this morning - tweets from 2-3 days ago show up, rather than recent ones. This is painful to watch.

Just when Twitter was going to be his biggest and best case study yet. RIP.
Sad news from @unccs — Fred P. Brooks, the founder and long-time chair of the department (and a major influence on my professional outlook) passed away a few hours ago.

Twitter has been a lifeline for activists and advocates around the world. It’s where people connect, lift up and collectively fight against powerful entities. At this moment, I can’t help but think about what post Twitter world would be like. Hoping for the best.

A lot has happened since the CVAA passed. This new bill is intended to cover the gaps that have opened since. Hopefully it will attract as much bipartisan support as the CVAA did. markey.senate.gov/news/press…
Accessibility/Disability Twitter has been really quiet in my feed in the past few days. It surely starts to feel like a tipping point for the #a11y community to me.

And man-baby wants to bring the blue check marks back on 11/29. I feel so much better already.

"You have hit the limit for SMS codes. Try again in 24 hours." (That's a grand total of one code I had sent to me in the past 24 hours ...)

ALT Dog with cap sitting in front of table with a mug with widening eyes (denying everything? Delighting in all? Blissfully unaware?) as the flames burn all around

I’ve now had the chance to play for a bit. 🤩 🤩 🤩 #GodofWarRagnarok sets a new hearing accessibility bar. The closed captions and sound #a11y are insanely good. Santa Monica Studios can’t have done this on their own. Curious as to which community members they worked with.
I haven’t had the chance to actually play yet, because my son keeps appropriating my PS5, but I’m so, so, so impressed with the #GodofWarRagnarok accessibility options at startup. They’re #TLOU2-level good. I have high hopes that the actual game will set an #a11y milestone.

The NAD is suspending its tweets due to @Twitter eliminating its entire Accessibility team, and will not resume until a showing of commitment to full inclusion.
