I’m shaking. My 3 year old just asked why BYU wasn’t playing:
I said: “Sorry buddy BYU didn’t make the playoffs”
Him: Why?
“Well, the committee felt their 2 loss schedule was worse than everyone else’s.”
My 3 year old: But dad, BYU only lost 2 games by a combined 9 points. One of their losses is to a playoff team, and their best win is against another playoff team. Why would the committee ignore them for an at large bid when their resume is clearly stronger than Indiana’s? Indiana has no business being here and the Big 10 is overrated anyway. Penn state didn’t beat anyone, and lost to Ohio State, who also didn’t beat anyone. The only team who did anything is Oregon. Even Texas has zero top 25 wins. Make this make sense, dad. Why is BYU kicked to the curb because of one bad loss, while all these other schools are forgiven for their bad losses, with weaker strength of record? You know why, dad? It’s because of preseason rankings. Also, Notre dame lost to NIU at home and only beat Army and Navy, who are only ranked because they beat bad teams. BYU beat SMU and K-State, that’s stronger than Army & Navy, and BYU’s loss to Kansas is way better than NIU. Make it make sense, dad.
*how am I supposed to explain this*
