It’s day 4 of #summerlearningweek and @TCSBoardofEd is spending the day advocating for summer learning programs on Capitol Hill. Our students did an AMAZING job telling why summer learning programs are so important and sharing stories of how they have been positively impacted!

The Alabama Literacy Act was passed in 2019 to help improve reading in AL public schools to ensure students are reading on grade level by the end of the 3rd grade.

This grant is funded through the ALSDE to implement/enhance existing afterschool and/or summer learning programs. Funds must be used to accelerate Pre-K–12 learning in the areas of reading & STEM through active learning & academic enrichment activities.

Tonight I got to represent @Alabama_Reading along with my colleagues for the viewing of “The Right to Read” at Fairfield HS. There are a lot of things we can compromise on. Literacy isn’t one.
