I drive a Honda Elevate, and today I sat in a Honda City. I literally felt like जैसे मुझे कोई चटाई पर बैठा के घसीट रहा हो 😭😭😭

Check out our recent publications where we show that a Fe→Mn Substitution Has Conformational and Electronic Implications on the Catalytic Cycle of Cytochrome P450BM3, just published in @Orgmet_ACS pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs… This article is dedicated to @SouravP32813910 on his 70th birthday for his seminal contributions to computational chemistry.

Here is the acceptance of the 7th publication of 2026 & the 70th as an independent PI at SNU. In this computational work, we have explained how a Fe-to-Mn substitution (experimental) in Cytochrome P450 not only alters the electronic properties but also reconfigures the water network to form the active oxidant Compound I. @Dineshsingh6666 @vandana_kardam Thanks @SanjeevSaGa @ShivNadarUniv

While leaving my postdoc group to start an independent career, I asked my mentor whether she ( Carme Rovira) has any tip for me. She gave a tip " Be very careful why choosing your first PhD. He/she will drive your research trajectory." It's so true...

Science is not an item which should be kept in your closets with lockers. It must be spread, publicized and well communicated. Therefore, all those who post publications on different social media, are doing great. Those who are criticizing, are disdaining it to mask their disappointment..

In this March, I finished 7 yrs as independent PI. Published more than 70 publications in top tier journals, supervised 9 PhDs, 5 already graduated with 100% placement and finished a research grant of 1.13 crore. With these data, I declare myself, as the most productive "Assistant Prof". 😜😜

What will you do as supervisor? 👇 X and Y are PhD students. X graduated, got postdoc/job and leaves the group. Supervisor communicated X's thesis work with help of Y (prepared SI, referencing etc), keeping X as main author and Y as coauthor. During revision, referees asked to repeat experiments/calculations. X doesn't contribute at all in revision, not replying the queries. Y does all revisions. I personally, will switch the authorship as Y first, and then X, marking with equal contributions during revision. What will you do?

After marriage & 4 yrs of postdoc, I was desperate to return India. So, I applied for a postdoc position to an IIT Professor. His reply was unique. I couldn't decide whether should I be happy or sad. " Thanks for your interest. You have several JACS and reputed publications, and your profile is better than some of faculties in our department. You should apply for faculty position, not for a postdoc. " 🤩🤩 The prof is retired and I have huge respect for him.

Textbook chemistry is chemistry “in principle” and is largely intended for teaching. The examples therein are formulated under standard conditions to aid conceptual understanding. Research, on the other hand, is in‑situ chemistry. Therefore, taking textbook chemistry too literally or too rigidly may not work in research.
