Actually, I’d argue that believing that the reason Christmas doesn’t feel like Christmas anymore is because of the frequency with which we give “stuff” and the anticipation of “stuff” is the real reason why Christmas doesn’t feel like Christmas anymore.
🚨 THIS IS WHY CHRISTMAS DOESN’T FEEL LIKE CHRISTMAS ANYMORE
A mom says she finally figured it out - and it hit her while Christmas shopping.
“When I was growing up, we didn’t get gifts all year round.”
Birthdays. Good grades. A small thing here and there.
Christmas was different.
Catalogs. Lists. Waiting. Imagination.
Now? Kids get everything all year - and she says we did it to ourselves.
“We tried to give our kids the life we never had… and took the anticipation out of Christmas.”
When she asked her son what he wanted this year, his answer stopped her cold:
“I want some slime - and a red cup to drink water out of.”
That was it.
So if there are only a few gifts under her tree this year, she says mind your business - because maybe less stuff is what brings the feeling back.
Did we overdo it and erase what made Christmas special in the first place?
