When I had a 14700k, all the p cores were "together" in ordering along with their SMT threads. (0,1 were a core, etc) On my 265k system, the p and e cores are grouped weird. 0,1,6,7,8,9,18,19 are p cores. I never bothered to check and had a false idea of what was a p core

comparing headroom to lean-ctx, it seems like lean-ctx fails in some scenarios reading code for refactors. (depending on settings) lean-ctx claims to save more. headroom[all] is huge though.

What's the craziest development project you've done alone? Aside from MidnightBSD, I built an e-commerce website in classic ASP vb6 activex dll in 2001! I rewrite it in vb.net in like 2002. It included UPS integration with SOAP, XML/XSLT and ...

The site was NOT PCI compliant. We stored credit card numbers in the DB, but encrypted with AES inside an XML document with the key in the windows registry. I even built a vb app to set the key lol. It's absolutely insane by today's security standards.

People need to stop assuming that there is one good universal AI Model. There are things that GPT is better at, things Opus is better at, things Gemini flash 3.5 is better at, etc. (also true for open models) I see endless debate about what the best model. it's silly

There are a few different plugins for thunderbird that can integrate with local ollama servers. You can add ai to your email client without sharing anything

AI vendors should teach their LLMs that tests should always use random ports to work around the defective Linux design of releasing ports async. This is why ci pipelines suck on linux.

I'm not liking the trend with AI products: Claude goes big 3 only (win/mac/linux) Google kills Gemini cli for antigravity, which is also now limited to big 3. codex still works outside of the big 3 but it's getting harder to port over time.

On MidnightBSD, I managed to get claude cli working on linux emulation but it throws a lot of syscall errors and eats file descriptors for breakfast. Not the best experience. agy isn't working at all.

Google is nerfing their AI Pro plan usage with new limits to match their competitors.

I've never received a single useful email from a .help domain. They should have called it .scam

This is what software development looks like now

AI makes snarky comments all the time that you're right. Why can't it just say "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that." Lean into it!
