Public Defenders serving the community in and out of the courtroom! Our North Region public defenders recently volunteered at Hope the Mission, where they spent a Saturday morning meal-prepping and supporting community members experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.
Congratulations Deputy Public Defender Marta Eggers on being named Defender of the Year by the California Public Defenders Association. Marta was selected in recognition of her skill, dedication, and passionate trial advocacy.
Beyond courtroom victories, Marta embodies client-centered, holistic advocacy by supporting her clients and their families as they navigate complex legal and personal challenges. Her compassion and commitment reflect the highest ideals of holistic public defense.
Today, we honor and remember the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. In observance of Memorial Day, our offices will be closed on Monday, May 25. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

We shared updates on our Rapid Response Team, Youth Services Division, client advocacy through @partnersforjustice, and efforts to support our unhoused neighbors, as well as ways data and technology, partnerships and community engagement impact the communities we serve.
