I believe True Grit starts with knowing what you truly want. When you know what you want and you can see it, you will work hard and persevere in order to achieve it.

We need students to reason, think before solving, participate in mathematical discussions! But how!? Relational thinking is a great routine to do just that. Want more? bit.ly/instructrout #MTBoS #ITeachMath #MathIsFigureOutAble #Elemmathchat #MSmathchat #HSmathchat

My undergraduate advisor taught me that a student's wrong answer is often the right answer to a different question.
Replying to @mburnsmath
And every student "error" has a "kernel of truth" in it... some part of the thinking is correct. Find it and build on it. And definitely ☕️ before math 😉

It seems like there's confusion on when we stop learning math so I made a little guide. K-8: Still learning math 9-12: Still learning math Undergrad: Still learning math Grad school: Still learning math After grad school: Still learning math

Teaching mathematics is about facilitating mathematical development. This means that we cannot get all learners to the same landmarks at the same time in the same way, any more than we can get all toddlers to walk at the same time in the same way. Fosnot, Models of Intervention

Do you catch yourself just telling students how to do something? What changes have you made in your practice to allow students to construct their own learning? Would love to hear them! #MTBoS #ITeachMath #MathIsFigureOutAble #Elemmathchat #MSmathchat #HSmathchat

Love is the ultimate driver of grit and excellence: 1. If you love it, you’ll work hard to become great at it. 2. If you love what do you you won’t give up. 3. If you love your team you won’t quit on them. 4. Love casts out fear and fuels you.

Number strings are so powerful in supporting children’s development. They go beyond talk and sharing. And the elegant mathematics that develops before you is lovely.
Amazing number sense! These kids will blow you away with building on each other's reasoning. Check out more of this clip of a 2nd grade #numberstring on our new website at newperspectivesonlearning.co… 138 10 138 20 138 23 138 19 367 34
