Why do you think businesses are building data centers? They will track every purchase or 'view' to sell you more stuff. We are being profiled with every transaction.
You thought you were just buying a TV… but Walmart was actually buying your data along with it.
Walmart recently bought Vizio and its SmartCast operating system — the data and advertising platform that runs on these TVs.
Now many new Vizio models force you to create a Walmart account just to use them. Once connected, SmartCast tracks everything you watch (Netflix, cable, game consoles, DVDs — even what’s on your phone) and ties it to your Walmart purchases and location.
The end game? Dynamic pricing — where the prices you see could change based on what Walmart knows about your habits, needs, or desperation.
This feels straight-up Orwellian.
Would you still buy one of these TVs knowing how much they’re tracking?
