Such a good point! Also helps to view all those early decisions through the one-way/two-way door lens. Some you can reverse out of as you learn more and evolve the system, some you are stuck with forever. Try to delay one-way decisions for as long as possible

We build knowledge over time, but most of our system decisions are made at the start.
That’s why we need to build systems that can evolve over time.

What drives orgs to pay 10x markup on AWS? The UI? Lack of cheaper alternative? Knowledge?

Vercel has 500 employees and is making a bet on their AI product because I think they see the writing on the wall that their model of putting a 10x markup on AWS was going to zero eventually. Vercel has to be a $7B company by the end of the decade to break even on that $250m and I’m skeptical.
Also a good chance that a fair chunk of the $57m was key people taking money off the table (I really hope this is the case)
