A global gathering starts in Kathmandu from today!
There was a time when the Himalaya moved in rhythm, herders crossing high passes, animals sustaining life where crops could not. It wasn’t called heritage. It was just life.

The Global Gathering of Pastoralist Women (Mera 16), set to take place in Kathmandu from 26 to 29 May, will centre women pastoralists’ priorities during the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists - IYRP 2026. The Gathering is a global space for pastoralist women to connect and build solidarities across regions, shape shared demands, and strengthen networks for long-term change.
