Ending immigration in all its forms is neither economically nor socially beneficial. It's little more than a political slogan designed to win votes, while scapegoating people who have the least voice in society for problems that are linked to decisions made by those with the greatest power and influence.
Immigration is essential to a modern economy. It helps fill labour shortages, supports public services, contributes to innovation and entrepreneurship, and helps offset the challenges of an ageing population.
Many sectors, including healthcare, social care, agriculture, construction, and technology, rely on migrant workers to function effectively.
That doesn’t mean immigration should be uncontrolled. A well-managed immigration system should balance economic needs, public service capacity, housing availability, and social integration.
The debate should focus on how immigration is managed, not on the unrealistic idea of ending it altogether.
Question the agenda of anyone or any party that says otherwise.
Again the claim that the left for some reason want high immigration.
Wrong.
The left wing position is equal & robust rights protections for all, regardless of immigration status.
The realist position is we also need immigration due to our demographics, & people need to move.
