Stumbled upon a post today for NCAA Div 1 Scholarship prep for U6-U13 girls 🤦♂️
I hope parents are mindful of where they invest their time and funding during these fundamental ages. These are ages to explore multi-sport, free play & falling in love with sports.

A harsh truth of sport is that you can work hard, sacrifice, dedicate yourself, and still fail. You aren’t guaranteed a college scholarship, a starting spot, an all-conference selection. Hard work is the baseline for entry, not a guarantee of success.

Every time these horrible platforms release a new list of youth player ratings I feel the need to say again, these sites are staffed by vultures making lists of kids they don’t know, haven’t seen, and don’t have the knowledge to rate even if the first two points were different.

While soccer ⚽️ isn’t as bad as ⚾️ 🏈 & 🏀 I still find all these numbers highly disturbing.
High parental expectations of their children often causes anxiety in their kids as they strive, worry & struggle about not letting their parents down.

The Stress of Soccer. Everywhere I go people are stressed out over soccer in this country. What club will my kid play for. What league will the club play in. What tournament are we playing in. What camps am I going to. What colleges will be there.

Most clubs would benefit greatly and develop more players by changing to an intramural style program where there’s no travel and no “official competition” and the kids just play small sided games between the ages of 6-12. More time with a ball at your feet will do wonders.
