Returning briefly to this hellscape to note that my PhD thesis is now available online through the University of Leicester repository! 'Sociability, Provincial Antiquarianism and Networks of Knowledge in the Spalding Gentlemen's Society, 1710-1755'. figshare.le.ac.uk/articles/t…

We are having technological troubles with internet at the Society of Antiquaries and tonight’s lecture will likely not be broadcast online. Our speaker will be recording his talk at a later date.

Going to post an image of lovely Monty every day this month by way of a little memorial (#dailybabe). Here he is aged 3 or 4 when we’d just met him at the Blue Cross in the summer of 2013, sitting with his toy owl Archimedes. With @aglmasters. #CatsofTwittter

We are excited to show off 24 beautiful books from our forthcoming catalogue of bindings in the form of an Advent calendar! Our book for Day 1 is the smallest of the bunch, a magnificent binding of silver filigree over blue silk on a miniature London Almanack.

Yesterday was hard. Thank you to so many constituents for your thoughtful comments on my speech on the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill. For those of you who want to watch it, you can see a shorter version below 👇 or in full here: youtu.be/XEBx8DPcZkg

Thrilled beyond words that Notre Dame is safe once more, but is it just me or is it *too* bright? I say this as a gay who never has the big light on. But I do think something of the medieval mystery & age of the place is lost with such a lighting scheme.
I remember Notre Dame de Paris as very impressive but gloomy. Now look at it. Wow!

I'm loving how the Archbishop of Paris currently has Macron captive in Notre Dame and is boring him to tears with endless explanation of relics

Our most majestic Monty had to be put to sleep yesterday. Sad doesn’t begin to cover it & it will take a long time to get used to his absence from our daily lives. But we were lucky to enjoy his company for 11 of his 15 years & he will always be with us. With @aglmasters.

This was such fun!
First edition Austens, tiny poetry books and satirical textbooks... An eclectic array of material came out for the masterclass led by Timothy Young (@yalebritishart) following his Sandars Lectures on Resistance to Bibliography.

This is giving Henry VIII’s Great Bible vibes: tiny God squished in at the top above a gigantic enthroned Henry.
Wow. Not sure I’ve ever seen heresy, blasphemy, and idolatry all mashed together like this before now.
