Lalu Yadav govt was undoubtedly the worst for Bihar on all parameters but even today he is loved by a huge section of society.
Why?
Because he made his people feel good about themselves.
All other leaders made these people feel inferior but Lalu felt like one among them. Lalu was the unapologetic, rooted "Bharatiya" bhoomiputra who did not bow down to elites of "India". He also did proper 'hisaab chukta' for his base.
Of course, Bihar's economy was totally ruined. The educated fled to Delhi to work while others fled to every other place to do blue collar jobs. Xenophobia against people of the state increased everywhere, but atleast his fans got the 'temporary' 15 year high of being led by one of their own.
Now you may start thinking that this story sounds eerily similar to that of a certain someone, but I am disappointed to inform you that the comparison stops there. Lalu, in fact, actually has a real degree from Patna University.
