In our “Shedding light on…” episode, we dive deep in the relationship between circadian rhythms, light exposure, and mental health with @ProfDanielSmith from @EdinburghUni@CircadianMHNetw
2/ We also shed light on Danny’s work on circadian rhythms and bipolar disorder. Are bipolar disorder patients more susceptible to the adverse effects of light in the evening? Can we study activity rhythms in bipolar disorder patients to predict relapse?
3/
Danny’s team is working hard to answer these questions in the HELIOS-BD and AMBIENT-BD projects.

New episode out 📢
It turns out that we have more than just one “body clock” — in fact, we have many clocks in different organs and cells. We chatted to @LauraKervezee from @LUMC_Leiden about how all these clocks keep synchrony⏲️
2/ We also discuss what happens during de-synchrony between our circadian rhythms and the outside light and dark cycle — for example during social jet lag or night shift work. How do these affect our health? ☀️
Just found out about the podcast @lightoclock and am catching up on the episodes and loving every one! @caroguidish is wonderful and it's making me think more about my research and expanding further into chronobiology.
Check it out!
