1/2 We all have a responsibility to mend our broken social fabric as Zimbabweans. No rocket scientist will come and fix our problems for us. Stop complaining and start acting. You have a role to play in the new trajectory of nation building in Zimbabwe. #TogetherWeCan #LEAD

As a father, I believe one of the greatest responsibilities of a man is to honour and appreciate the woman who carries and nurtures the children that become part of his family. In doing so, respect for her family becomes a true reflection of one’s character, maturity and values. As Minister of Youth, I wish to encourage our young citizens to embrace a culture of respect, dignity and restraint, particularly in moments of disagreement or personal conflict. True leadership is not demonstrated through intimidation, abuse of authority or the misuse of influence against others, especially women and the elderly. No grievance, misunderstanding or separation should ever justify the use of power, money or office to suppress, intimidate or humiliate another family. Our children learn more from our conduct than from our words, and I want mine to inherit a legacy founded on respect, integrity, peace and humanity. Peace begins with me. Peace begins with you. Peace begins with all of us.

Hon. Masvingise today rose in the National Assembly on a point of national interest to congratulate Government Chief Whip, Hon. Togarepi, following his election as Chairperson of the Southern African Caucus of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP). Speaking in the House, Hon. Masvingise said Hon. Togarepi’s election under the campaign theme “One Southern Voice for a Stronger Africa” was a significant achievement for both Zimbabwe and the Southern African region. He said the appointment reflected confidence in Zimbabwean leadership at continental level and underscored the country’s growing influence within African parliamentary processes. Hon. Masvingise also congratulated Hon. Elizabeth Masuku on her election as Vice Chairperson of the Pan-African Parliament Committee on Gender, Family, Youth and Persons with Disabilities. He described the developments as a source of national pride and expressed confidence that the two legislators would represent Zimbabwe effectively in advancing regional cooperation and continental development initiatives.

The Parliament of Zimbabwe has achieved what no other legislature in the world has: producing and publishing the official Hansard within 3.5 hours of adjournment. This milestone reflects our commitment to open governance, timely public access to information, and strengthening citizen engagement in the legislative process.

LABOUR ECONOMISTS AND AFRIKAN DEMOCRATS (LEAD) CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE Congratulations to Her Ladyship Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza on Her Historic Appointment as the First Female Chief Justice of Zimbabwe The Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats (LEAD) extend its heartfelt congratulations to Her Ladyship Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza upon her historic appointment as the first female Chief Justice of the Republic of Zimbabwe. This milestone is not only a personal triumph for Your Ladyship but a landmark achievement for Zimbabwean women and generations of young girls who dare to dream beyond societal limitations. Your appointment represents resilience, excellence, discipline, and the breaking of barriers in one of the most critical institutions of our nation. As you assume this esteemed office, we hope your tenure will usher in a new era of judicial independence, constitutionalism, accessibility to justice, and transformative legal reform that responds to the realities and aspirations of the Zimbabwean people. We particularly implore Your Ladyship to leave a lasting legacy through the decolonisation and modernisation of our judiciary system. The continued use of colonial-era judicial attire and traditions remains symbolic of systems imposed upon our people rather than systems rooted in our own identity, culture, and heritage. Zimbabwe’s judiciary must progressively reflect an Afrocentric identity that resonates with the people it serves while maintaining the dignity, professionalism, and integrity of the bench. Africa must begin to define justice through its own lens, values, and cultural consciousness. Your historic leadership presents a unique opportunity to champion reforms that make our legal system more people-centred, accessible, culturally grounded, and reflective of an independent Zimbabwe. We wish Your Ladyship wisdom, strength, courage, and divine guidance as you embark on this historic journey. May your tenure be remembered as one that transformed the judiciary, defended justice without fear or favour, and inspired generations of African women to lead boldly. Congratulations once again, Chief Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza. Linda Tsungirirai Masarira President Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats (LEAD)

Women and Warveterans families speak out - Gilston farm . "A gang of youths armed with weapons including hoes invaded our fields. We were forced to lie down and beaten up . We are injured and in pain . @PoliceZimbabwe hasn't done much to assist at the moment. The youths are being dropped by buses ,lorries and private cars , we are under siege." War veterans with disability families narrate the situation and how invaders terrorised them at Gilston Farm. Reports indicate that powerful land barons deployed armed youths mobilised from various parts of Harare including Mbare , Southlea Park and Ushewekunze suburbs and stormed the Warveterans owned Farm situated about 25 km from Harare CBD along the Harare - Masvingo highway.

PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE GOVERNMENT’S FAILURE TO IMPLEMENT CIVIL SERVANTS’ SALARY INCREMENT IS A BETRAYAL OF WORKERS The Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats (LEAD) notes with grave concern the Government’s failure to honour its March 2026 commitment to increase civil servants’ salaries effective April 2026. To date, no such adjustment has been effected. This is not merely an administrative delay. It is evident and a clear act of negotiating in bad faith. If anything had gone wrong surely a statement would have been in order to calm down already struggling civil servants. When a government makes a public commitment to its workers and fails to follow through, it erodes trust, undermines institutional integrity, and exposes thousands of families to deepening economic vulnerability. Civil servants like teachers, nurses, administrative staff, and other public sector workers are already operating under extremely difficult conditions, with wages that have long been eroded by inflation and currency instability. To promise relief and then fail to deliver it is not just irresponsible. It is cruel and not being considerate to the socioeconomic burdens civil servants continue to carry to have this country functioning. LEAD strongly condemns this pattern of deception and disregard for workers’ welfare. Such conduct entrenches precarious living conditions, where workers are unable to plan, meet basic needs, or sustain their households with dignity. It is unacceptable that those who keep the machinery of government running are treated with such contempt. We must be clear, giving a salary increment to already underpaid vivil servants is not a favour to workers. It is an obligation. The Government’s continued failure to implement agreed salary adjustments reflects a broader systemic problem of poor governance, lack of accountability, and disregard for labour rights as enshrined in the Constitution of Zimbabwe, particularly the right to fair and safe labour practices. LEAD therefore demands the following: ▪︎Immediate implementation of the promised salary increment, with full transparency on the structure and effective date; ▪︎Payment of any arrears owed from April 2026 to date; ▪︎A clear, time-bound framework for future salary reviews tied to inflation and cost of living; ▪︎Genuine, good-faith engagement with civil servants’ representatives moving forward. Zimbabwe can not rebuild its economy on the backs of exploited and demoralised workers. A nation that neglects its civil servants is a nation that is actively undermining its own future. We stand in full solidarity with all civil servants and call upon them to remain united in demanding justice, dignity, and fair compensation. The era of empty promises must come to an end. Victoria Falls: The Smoke is Thundering Louder Than Ever in 2026 The Zambezi River is currently putting on a masterclass in raw power. After a couple of lean years that left many wondering if the "Smoke that Thunders" was losing its voice. Victoria Falls has returned with a vengeance. As of late March 2026, the flow at the Victoria Falls station has surged to a staggering 4,090 m³/s. To put that into perspective, this time last year the flow was a modest 1.216 m³/s. In 2024. amidst a severe El Niño-induced drought, the river was struggling at under 900 m³/s. We are currently seeing nearly four times the volume of water compared to two years ago.
