Today, our palliative care team met a man in a shelter who was called "non-compliant" because he wasn't taking his meds.
We developed trust & learned: He didn't know how to read…so he couldn't read the labels on his pill bottles.
When we listen more, we can care better. 🙏🏾

Joyce Echaquan, a Atikamekw 37 year old mom of 7, filmed herself dying as health workers hurled racist insults at her.
An inquest has shown she died of heart failure & was wrongly diagnosed with opioid withdrawal.
Don’t tell me racism doesn’t exist in healthcare!
