While in Kauai, I dropped a JrF #hydrophone into various tide pools. It was fun to hear the ocean movement in combination with what I assume was smaller water life - crabs, fish, bugs. One of my favorite songs :) bit.ly/2Oss3Z5 #fieldrecording

Heard this song on @kexp this morning (#PositiveVibrations of course, though hosted by #DJMissAshley). Was used as the announcement background music. I dig its #Coil / "Windowpane" feel. #BlazeDem - "Dubness Of This Creation" youtube.com/watch?v=Px2fcSlS…
Last night I was listening to #TheApeOfNaples, the final album from #COIL. It occurred to me that it is a strange sibling to the @X_TG album.

#TheApeOfNaples was completed by #PeterChristopherson after the death of #JohnBalance, and #DesertShore/#TheFinalReport was completed after the death of #PeterChristopherson by @ChrisAndCosey. These albums are going to continue haunting me for years.

It made me wonder -- what other albums have resulted in both contributions-from as tributes-to a former member?
Listening to #Coil's "Fire Of The Green Dragon". Something about the air raid sound (best description I have) feels so @ThrobbingGrstle. I don't know if it is because I have been listening to more TG/@X_TG lately, but this song has escaped my focus in the past...
One of my most common typos as a developer (Ruby/Rails) is `destory` (rather than `destroy`). I feel like the typo holds hidden meaning for me, and I need to unravel, unwrite something -- may explore that theme for a bit... especially when it takes the form of `destory_all`

A lovely listen!
Pleased to announce a new album today! Listen to “Coastal Trapped Disturbance,” which features dear @FrescoOficial vocals. Many thanks to @room40speaks for all the invaluable help making this one!! 🙌🙏🙏 #solastalgia #newalbum #irisarri #room40

Looking forward to the #SavageRepublic (@republic_savage) Seattle shows! Remembering first hearding 'Tragic Figures' and 'Customs' as a teen; learning @BradLaner had been a part of the band for 'Customs' one night over tacos after he performed on @kuciFM (hi @danieldantastic!)

the time I was so very helpful and brought #SavageRepublic an oil drum that still rank of oil for their SXSW performances (sorry?); the amazing music (see 2012's 'Varvakios'!), kind conversations, good coffee since...
General crowdsourcing: what are some nice books to read on #FieldRecording? Anything that hits the topic is of curiosity to me.
Hooked up my Grendel Drone Commander (beautiful, accessible synth) in the living room for the kid (4) to play with. It's so wonderful to watch him go up and play with it... it's also a small step (again) in getting myself back into playing with sound
Finished @coseyfannitutti's 'Art Sex Music.' I really enjoyed the journey, gaining some interesting insight and inspiration. I think in the end I mostly loved hearing a voice that focussed so much on the intersection of music/sound and art/action.

It was interesting to read 'Art Sex Music' back to back with Keenan's 'England's Hidden Reverse.' The combination of reads certainly changed my perspective on some artists involved, giving me far more respect for some artists, less for others (good offline conversation?)

The reading did leave me wondering why certain paths did not cross; I would have loved to have heard some collaboration between Steven Stapleton (#NurseWithWound) and some of the #ThrobbingGristle camp (please hit me up with some interesting things I might have missed)

Read @coseyfannitutti's memories of Geoff Rushton's funeral (John Balance / #coil) in her book 'art sex music' while sitting in a pub last night. It brought some tears I admit. I of course never knew him, but his work was certainly an inspiration/influence, and I felt the loss

His passing on November 13, 2004, was impactful, in part because it felt so strange to have someone whose work I admired so consistently pass on my birthday

Also, sometimes it feels odd to read 'art sex music' in public as a scruffy dad in my 40s, though of course it should not
