Get a sneak peek into the making-of 𝘊𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘦, a monumental artwork that tells time with trees.
Created by artist and conceptual philosopher
@jonathonkeats, the work has two components: a giant arboreal clock built in collaboration with clockmakers Phil Abernethy and Brittany Nicole Cox, and a land art installation at Long Now’s Nevada Bristlecone Preserve.
In the video below, follow the story of the land art installation at 11,000-ft elevation — where the world’s oldest trees record their own sense of time — to the horology workshop where the bespoke clock is built to translate universal standard time into "bristlecone time" for installation at the museum.
