Earlier today, I was at the Florence McClure Women’s Correctional Center and had the pleasure of welcoming the high school graduates of 2026. I also had the opportunity to thank the dedicated officers who maintain order and provide safety for the women who, despite serving their sentences, are striving to better themselves.

Today, we proudly welcomed 11 new corrections officers into the LVMPD family! This incredible group represents the best of our community:
🔹 Ages range from 21 to 40
🔹 Half the class is fluent in Spanish and Korean
🔹2 have earned higher education degrees
🔹3 are Las Vegas natives
🔹8 are from Utah, Florida, North Carolina, and California
🔹Previous employments: plumber, welder, food and beverage, security, commercial driver, call center representative, case manager, medical assistant, behavioral technician, and animator
