Similar conclusions on social media and mental illness to our Lancet Psychiatry Commission. If there is a relationship it is likely small though could still be important. Crucial to avoid pop psychology here. Need to address the major socioeconomic drivers @orygen_aus @MRowlandMP

We had the privilege of 🗣️ with parents & MH professionals in 15 countries about young people, social media & suicide. We learnt that while culture plays a big role in MH & suicide prevention literacy, parents around the 🌍 have the same concerns about these topics. Read more 👇🏼

Enjoyed this conversation yesterday with AiMCO & Alessia about the importance of safe content creation by social media influencers. If we want to make social media safer, we have to start with those who create content and that so many young people look to for info/advice/support

This is not the answer. The only people who lose out here are young people (who will inevitably end up in less regulated contexts that are no longer designed with safety in mind). This is avoiding real issues w/out significant investment in online safety and digital literacy.
