The Order of Princess Olga, II class, was awarded to Yuliia Kyriienko-Merinova. Τοday the Cyprus Presidency initiated the preparation for the formal opening of Cluster one in the accession negotiations of Ukraine and Moldova. This marks a significant milestone in their European integration path, and sends a strong message of EU unity and determination. In the coming days, we will continue working dedicately towards finalizing the discussions in the Council for the formal opening of the cluster. Today in Budapest, Hungarian authorities took seven Ukrainian citizens hostage. The reasons are still unknown, as well as their current well-being, or the possibility of contacting them. These seven Ukrainians are employees of state-owned Oschadbank, who were operating two bank cars transiting between Austria and Ukraine and carrying cash as part of regular services between state banks. In fact, we are talking about Hungary taking hostages and stealing money. If this is the “force” announced earlier today by Mr Orban, then this is a force of a criminal gang. This is state terrorism and racketeering. We have already sent an official note demanding an immediate release of our citizens. We will also address the European Union with the request to provide a clear qualification of Hungary’s unlawful actions, hostage-taking, and robbery. I visited Kyiv on the anniversary of the war in Ukraine together with European leaders. Russia invaded Ukraine four years ago. Initially, the war was supposed to last four days. The Ukrainians have been fighting for their independence for four years. Right now, they are fighting for all of Europe. We will support Ukraine for as long as it takes. Slava Ukraini.
