Introducing z386: an 80386-class FPGA CPU built around the original 386 microcode.
It’s more compact than ao486 and useful for studying how the 386 really worked.
Also: z386-MiSTer, an experimental PC MiSTer core built on z386.

Tech Details: the 5X pipeline now uses the same 12bpc RGB 4:4:4 Linear Light pipeline as the 4K.
This allows it to output real Rec. 2020 HDR10 to produce CRT effects that are bright and color correct - much better than the old "injection" method.

The point is not and has never been to blindly port from MAME to FPGA.
This is about advancing the knowledgeable about old systems and transforming that into a better gameplay experience.
We launched the Multisystem2 Arcade today.
It's an all-in-one FPGA based Arcade platform 100% compatible with the amazing #MiSTerFPGA project.

After my original release in 2021, I've finally rewritten Universal Dreamcast Patcher...
- Windows/Linux/macOS builds
- Automatic online updates
- CHD support
This rewrite uses no external helper utilities whatsoever. All functionality is now natively integrated!

MiSTer Companion support coming soon!
Today's build.
MORTAL II KOMBAT #MiSTer
Last few sound breaking scenarios fixed:
1) During game over, coin up results in music stopping, and the EXCELLENT sound does not play on coinup. Was a sequencing/ interface bug in the TMS34010/DCS.
2) During the ladder, the attenuation on the music oscillates up and down. Also related, end of match outro tone gets cut off by WINS speech. Was a broken instruction/ register in AD2105 DSP.
This is looking good. Goal was to release in time for the movie!

City Connection (Jaleco 1985) — MiSTer FPGA Arcade Core - WIP youtu.be/DDmsepMFBVk?si=fVMu… via @YouTube
First footage of the City Connection arcade core for MiSTer FPGA. From-scratch FPGA implementation of the original 1985 Jaleco PCB hardware.
Today I decided to port Jetpac to the Taito SJ (because why not)... Luckily there is already a disassembly of the ZX Spectrum code at the following location:
github.com/mrcook/jetpac-dis…
I'm hoping to add sound and colour tomorrow.
I’ve made a MiSTer script that allows you to install Syncthing on your MiSTer!
Syncthing lets you sync folders between devices, useful for things like saves, configs, and backups.
Now available via update_all. I’ll add it to MiSTer Companion soon.
