This was crushing but so crucial for everyone to hear. One party wants to take action; the other is being led by a nominee who says we have to “get over it.” I can’t look at my school-aged family members, my students, or my colleagues & not feel we have work to do & votes to cast

Reading scores have plummeted in school districts around the country. Over the past decade, 1 out of 3 districts have seen scores drop by an ENTIRE GRADE LEVEL. The only states to see improvement: • Hawaii • Mississippi • Louisiana

When I heard these two points from @brightmorningtm, I knew I had to share. 1️⃣ “When we name what is true, we make space for clarity and connection and healing.” 2️⃣ “Your goodbye can plant seeds… You might never know exactly what your impact was, but I promise it was there.”
During our doctoral coursework, @luisalanizedu & I were introduced to Elena Aguilar’s work. Her message feels especially salient as colleagues transition into new roles. Edu is deeply bittersweet. Thank you for your service, humanity, & the opportunity to learn alongside you.

One thing that surprised me about @GetSchoolAI was the speed at which they’re adapting to the changing edtech landscape. Thanks for the energy and insight, @FelyTeachnology! — w/ @LaJoyaISDEdTech

"Despite the Texas Legislature’s recent investment, Texas spends about $3,500 less per student than the national average. The state’s two-year budget cycle adds uncertainty, forcing schools to make long-term commitments without dependable support. 'Districts are constantly stretching resources to cover basic needs,' Bob Popinski [dean of policy for Raise Your Hand Texas] said. 'Without steady, long-term funding, they’re busy fighting fires and catching up instead of investing in student success.' The proposed 'Legacy Education Fund' aims to address this challenge by providing a reliable, supplemental revenue source." Read more at go.ryht.org/atxfund #TxEd #TxLege #LegacyEducationFund

What a blast! Spent the day co-presenting on UIL journalism with @MrSilvaEdu at the @uiltexas Student Activities Conference. Our students’ hard work has brought us to a point where we can help shape students from across the region, representing our school & district along the way

NEW: @teainfo has sent a letter to Texas school superintendents announcing investigations into teachers and staff who have "posted and/or shared reprehensible and inappropriate content on social media" about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. TEA states the posts "could constitute a violation of the Educators' Code of Ethics" and could result in sanctions. #txlege

We're creating two classes of graduates. Rich districts get AI training. Poor districts get AI warnings. Students in well-funded schools learn to collaborate with AI tools that amplify their thinking. Students in struggling districts learn traditional methods that become obsolete before they graduate. The gap compounds fast. AI-literate students will college with skills their professors assume everyone has. They complete assignments faster and focus on higher-level thinking while peers struggle with how to responsibly use AI to develop skills. Four years later, they enter workplaces where AI fluency determines advancement. We may have accidentally turned the technology that could level the playing field into another advantage for kids who already have every advantage. Equity means every student learns to work with AI, regardless of zip code.

The gaslighting happening now in the Texas Senate is something else: Republicans arguing they need to correct accusations of racial discrimination in congressional district maps that the same Republicans have argued contain no racial discrimination #TxLege
