One for a beer sometime. So much nuance here. Also not being on the board I’m missing 90% too.
Comms externally reflect comms internally, right now. Events Committee is doing good, but need to build channels to publicly talk about that. That’s next up for us.
No town hall, or MA Connect or even a series of short blog post updates hurts MA externally but also removes connection with community. (No comms = no conversations). Slack dead, no discord, not much engagement in Twitter/LinkedIn – that’s the fundamental building block for MA to survive. That’s step one. Marketing should be a first hire.
On the flip side, the negativity board members receive when they talk MA. It’s a catch 22 - no negativity from no updates. No updates without negativity arriving. It hurts applicants or interest (talking about myself here if there ever is/was another board seat up for election - 2027?)
@mattLefaux is a massive, massive step forwards. Next up is basic comms, board replacements, and committee overhauls where inactivity and lack of progress exist. Needs aggressive chairing/decisions with swift movements and I told
@JoshuaSWarren as much at MMUK. It’s about governance change, not personnel, to move quicker.
(All entirely my own opinion/observations, of course)
