Last fall I had the honor of being awarded the Governor’s “Outstanding Employee with a Disability”. This year I decided to pay it forward as I review applications for various categories as a committee that will forward recommendations to the current Governor for consideration.
Exploring this. As I think back to my early interest in public policy it was my mom’s disability and the impact the ADA had in her later years. Now that I have a disability myself, I believe there is much to learn and how I can contribute. adacoordinator.org/
Today I ascended to the chair of the SD Board of Vocational Rehabilitation. I was reappointed to the volunteer Board by Governor Rhoden earlier this year.
As a previous user of State voc rehab services it is indeed an honor and look forward to contributing to my new role.
