Sweden is a clean energy leader and a strong, long-standing supporter of the Energy Union.
But the revised Grids Package draft still punishes that leadership and does not give Member States the necessary flexibility on the use of congestion revenues. Flexibility which was clearly outlined in the European Council’s conclusions from 19th March.
If that flexibility is not reflected in the next revisions of the Grids Package, we will take necessary actions to protect Swedish households, Swedish companies and Sweden’s energy security.
I’m astonished that this is even a discussion, when all our focus should be on strengthening energy security. Therefore, I expect a swift resolution to this issue.
We know that we are pushing for an energy policy that would be a win for the whole Union.
