It would be useful if journalists could avoid using phrases like “feel” unable to work due to sickness. Anyone on benefits has been judged - by an incredibly harsh assessment - to be too ill for a job. This isn’t some abstract feeling that’s all in their head. It’s medical fact.
Jeremy Hunt says he wants those who feel unable to work because of physical or mental health conditions to receive medical and therapeutic help as a condition of receiving their out-of-work benefits uplift, as a pathway back to work. But this seems less than practical - even heroic - at a time when NHS waiting lists and times are at record levels, and goodness knows how or when they will fall to normal levels
